Judge lifts Tommy Wiseaus injunction against documentary about The Room

first_imgAdvertisement Advertisement A documentary about the infamous “Citizen Kane of bad movies,” Tommy Wiseau’s The Room, can finally be seen by a wider audience, after a Toronto judge on Wednesday lifted an injunction against the Canadian-made doc.Room Full of Spoons, from Ottawa-based writer and filmmaker Rick Harper, a self-proclaimed super fan of The Room, set out to tell the story of the 2003 cult movie, initially with Wiseau’s blessing and collaboration. But Wiseau reportedly pulled out of the project, and in June sought an injunction against showing the film, alleging copyright infringement, invasion of privacy and that it mocks and disparages both him and The Room.In a somewhat amusing ruling — noting that “The Room’s fame rests on its apparently abysmal quality as a movie” — Ontario Superior Court Judge Markus Koehnen dismissed all claims.
